Polite & persistent efforts get results

Any campaign that seeks change - banning smoking, requiring seatbelts, promoting recycling - takes time and persistence. It’s 20 years (2005) since the ban on smoking was passed in Washington but it took almost two decades of campaigning to get the law passed.
Our efforts to improve the Interurban and remove barriers that limit its potential as a safe, welcoming and easily accessible route for all cyclists (as well folks who wheel or walk) will take time. And we need your help to make it happen.

Many ways to help

Getting involved can take many forms. Attend a public meeting, speak up, make posts on social media, join a North Sound Bikes committee, tell your friends and neighbors. Contact elected officials whose district covers parts of the Interurban or connections to it.

Get informed. Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Shoreline all produce annual or biennial capital and transportation improvement plans. (Sometimes known as capital facilities plans.) Those plans include future roadway improvements, such as bike lanes.

Stay positive - bike advocacy is about the long haul, not quick victories, though sometimes those do occur.
